We would like to share a letter written from Kristin's physician to Kristin's Mom, Tina. Read how your donations to the Kristin Carroll Memorial Fund are helping others.

Mrs. Tina Carroll Charlottesville, VA August 1, 2002 Dear Ms. Carroll: I have not forgotten about you or Kristin. We have placed all of the gifts that we received in your daughter's memory into a special purpose fund that we have named The Kristin Carroll Fund. I believe the total was about $ 7000.00. We plan to use the money to assist needy individual patients and families followed through the Spina Bifida Center in paying for services or other items that are not covered by their insurance or other programs. So far, through your generosity, we have been able to help two individuals. We have a young adult woman with spina bifida who is living independently and has been suffering from severe back pain. During a personal financial crisis when she was unable to work, we assisted her in paying her rent. We helped another family who traveled to Baltimore from North Carolina in paying a hospital bill that was not covered by insurance. We still have more that half of the money and will continue to use it sparingly to assist individuals on a case-by-case basis. Any additional gifts to the Spina Bifida Center, that are intended to directly benefit patients and families, will be added to The Kristin Carroll Fund. I hope to continue the fund indefinitely in order to have descretionary funds that we can use to assist families in crisis. I hope our plans meet with your approval. Thank you.
